Before I was born my mother and father took a helicopter from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is a valley. A valley has steep sides made by rivers scraping off little pieces of rock. This process may take millions of years. The Grand Canyon took seventeen million years to be carved. It was carved by the Colorado River. The Grand Canyon is a very deep valley.
The Grand Canyon is in Arizona, it is the largest, longest, widest, and deepest canyon in the world. The Grand Canyon is over one mile deep! It is eighteen miles wide and two hundred and seventy seven miles long! Look at the picture above and see the Grand Canyon! Can you see the different layers in the sedimentary rock? Can you see how steep the sides are, and how wide the sides are apart, can you see how tall the sides are?
I chose to write about the Grand Canyon because we are learning about landforms in science and because I am very interested in how the Grand Canyon formed.
The End
I LIKE THE PART WHEN YOU SAID THAT THERE IS LAYERS
